Our Mission
The mission of The El Paso United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The United Methodist Church is a worldwide denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20  (NIV)

The Great Commission is Jesus’ command to His followers to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations. It calls believers to spread His message of love, salvation, and grace, baptizing new disciples and teaching them to live according to His teachings. This mission reminds us that our faith is active, urging us to go into the world, guided by the presence of Christ, to bring hope and transformation to all people.

We believe Grace saves us.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV)

God's son Jesus Christ was sacrificed on the cross so that we could have eternal life.

It is only through God's Grace that we are saved. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24 (NIV)

We believe in Scripture.

The Bible is divinely inspired and the ultimate authority for every action, attitude, and belief. It is the only trustworthy, unchanging, sufficient, and error-free Word of God.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Tim 3:16-17 (NIV)

Scripture tells us marriage is a binding covenant relationship created by God between one man and one woman. A strong marriage is built on the sacred bond between a man, a woman, and God. This divine partnership creates a foundation of love, trust, and faith, where each spouse is united not only to one another but also to God, who strengthens and sustains their union. "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." Matt 19:4-5 (NIV)

We believe the greatest commandment is love.

Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is love: to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. This call to love is the foundation of all His teachings and a guide for how we live in faith and community.

"Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" Matt 22:37-39 (NIV)

We believe in the Wesleyan traditions.
Do No Harm, Do Good, Stay in Love with God!

Our mission is to live out Christ’s love through faith, service, and community, following the teachings of John Wesley. Rooted in the Wesleyan tradition, we strive to grow in grace, serve others, and share the gospel with all people.

We embrace the Wesleyan teachings of John Wesley, emphasizing God’s grace, personal holiness, and social action. Central to our faith is the belief that God’s love is freely available to all, empowering us to respond with acts of compassion and justice. We value the practices of prayer, worship, scripture study, sacraments and service as means of growing closer to God and one another.

We believe membership matters.

We believe Christians are called to a lifelong journey of growth. Participation in the ministries of the church, like worship, Bible study, missions and connecting with our neighbors are ways God works in our lives and hearts. We believe membership matters because we are better together. Contact Pastor Greg for information on how to become a member of the El Paso UMC!
